Test Gauges
What is a test gauge?
Test gauges are typically used to “test” and/or calibrate other gauges or instruments. Test pressure gauges are generally used in higher accuracy laboratory settings and are not meant to withstand rough handling. Most test gauges are Grade 3A (0.25%) or Grade 4A (0.1%) of full scale accuracy, although Marsh has a test gauge rated at ASME B40.1 Grade 2A (0.5%). They have between 4" and 10" dials since the increased accuracy requires more increments. Test gauges are often mounted permanently in “Test Stands” and are used as comparisons for less accurate gauges. Many test gauges have front or rear flanges to allow for mounting to a fixed panel.
